Students who have held a 3.5 GPA for five trimesters are invited to apply for membership. When a student applies he or she is accepted into the Scappoose High School Diamond Chapter of National Honor Society based on scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Students that are in their first year of membership are to complete an individual service project of their choice. Members that are in their second year of membership are serving on a committee throughout the year. NHS members also complete community service hours. During the year members complete ten hours helping other NHS members with their projects or committees, fifteen hours are served to help the community, and five hours of general community service.
